Sometimes you just have to hit the road! A few summers back, my husband and I decided we needed a road trip to Nova Scotia. Driving north through Maine we made stops at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor as well as blueberry farms and lobster spots feeling inspired by the beauty of every mile along the way.
Traveling by car along coastal routes is completely uplifting as the sight seeing is brilliant and seemingly endless! Stopping for scenic photos now and again as well as to have a hike or a bite really gives a sense of the place. I like to breathe it all in allowing myself that further and further away from all life’s daily grind feeling.
My aim when traveling is to absolutely be where I am and nowhere else. Leave the concerns and worries elsewhere and just to feel free! The more you immerse yourself in the moment and in the natural world the simpler it becomes.
Sunsets are easier to witness than sunrises because they happen in our awake hours. Rising extra early though and trekking to a spot to watch the big hard sun slowly appear on the horizon when all the rest of the world is still sleeping can fill you with absolute wonder! Whenever I am traveling I make it a point to do this at least once but more often if I can! The early bird catches the worm as they say and it is a delicious taste of feeling fully alive!
Here are a few of my favorite spots from Maine, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island. What an adventure to travel so far north! Enjoy and get your maps out! Summer’s coming and it’s time to hit the road!
