We were trail-riding in the wildly beautiful mountains of West Virginia this past week and I was absolutely living and breathing in the moment. Immersed in forest grandeur, I was captivated by the colors, shapes and sizes of trees, evergreens and wildflowers all existing in harmony together. Each must have a purpose I thought that allows the forest in its entirety to flourish and thrive as it does. How lucky we humans are to live on such a hospitable planet that shows us wonder and beauty in every moment.
My mind drifted to us peoples, our human species and how each of us although being unique, we still share so much commonality, a great human connection. In trying times, it is easy to lose sight of how similar we are, of the ties that bind as we focus on what makes us different. If we look at the great big picture that we are all here together in an amazing world and each have a role to fulfill to make the living breathing life experience the best that it can be. We owe it to ourselves and to each other to be our best selves so that like the harmony of the forest, we too can coexist in a world where our differences shine, drawing us together.
It is a big beautiful world full of gorgeous, incredible places with so many wonderful human stories. We can learn and grow and live and love better if we only decide to do just that. See the forest, through the trees, the rewards are pure, loving and beautiful.
“A forest is a living think like a human body…. Each part dependent on all the others.” ~ Louis L’Amour
